The Carthaginian senators are disturbed. Your family’s political
advocates, the Barcine faction, speak loudly in your defense. Yet the
rest of the senate views you as a rogue general playing with fire. After
hours of debate, Carthage decides to follow through on Hanno’s
suggestions. Ambassadors are sent to Rome to portray you as a villain
who has stolen Carthage’s army and is acting independently of the
Empire’s wishes. A second set of ambassadors arrives in your camp,
removing you from office. You are banished from both Carthage and Rome
and you never see your home again. With you out of the picture, Carthage
sends diplomats to repair relations in Saguntum. Although Carthage
continues to pay heavy war tithes to the Romans, they avoid major
conflict, and your skirmish in Spain is long forgotten.
